Made during my residency in Japan :)

Handbuilt lidded box with natural wood ash and stamped & carved design. Perfect for rings, vitamins, or other tiny treasures! 

*note, the lid of this box warped in the high heat of the anagama kiln and does not fit perfectly*

Fired in an anagama kiln! This kiln is an ancient style wood fired kiln dating back to the 5th century! These kilns are built like a cave into the earth along a hillside to create a natural single chamber tunnel for the flames to move throughout. The firing process requires 5 full days of round the clock stoking with a team of 10 artists. Ceramics fired in an anagama kiln are known for distinct natural wood-ash glazes, dramatic flame marks, and unpredictable earthy textures ~ true one of a kinds! 

For the longevity of the piece it is recommended to hand wash with care.
