Made during my residency in Japan :)
Wheel thrown and altered yunomi (tea cup) with shino glaze and natural wood ash.
*note: price is marked down due to glaze texture on rim - glaze texture is a bit rough and did not fully flux, but no functional issues*
Fired in an anagama kiln! This kiln is an ancient style wood fired kiln dating back to the 5th century! These kilns are built like a cave into the earth along a hillside to create a natural single chamber tunnel for the flames to move throughout. The firing process requires 5 full days of round the clock stoking with a team of 10 artists. Ceramics fired in an anagama kiln are known for distinct natural wood-ash glazes, dramatic flame marks, and unpredictable earthy textures ~ true one of a kinds!
For the longevity of the piece it is recommended to hand wash with care.
