Raku Fired Planter 004
Raku Fired Planter 004
Wheel thrown planter with hand painted glaze.
Raku firing is an ancient Japanese ceramics technique where glazed ceramics are taken from the kiln while they are still glowing red hot and are then placed in a combustible material, such as sawdust or newspaper. This technique is used to starve the piece of oxygen, which creates a variety of colors within the glaze.
Due to the nature of the firing each piece is one of a kind. Please expect slight color & texture variations in each piece.
NOT intended for food or drink. Raku pieces are still porous and therefor not food safe.
For the longevity of the piece it is recommended to hand wash with care.
Approximate dimensions 4.5" x 4.5” x 2.5”
NOTE: Planters marked "imperfect" are marked down due to small hairline cracks from the stress of the raku firing. Based on the usage of this piece, it should not pose any structural issues, please handle with care.
