In this Spring’s workshop series, we will explore the endless possibilities of gritty groggy sculpture clay, as we create adornments for your garden or home. This series will focus on various hand building techniques to help you quickly sculpt shapes, with an emphasis on form & texture.

We will focus on building sculptural and functional planter pots  for your home or garden. Don't need a planter? No worries, you will also be free to take your own creative route into building sculptural ornamentations for your garden (or apartment) — think animal elements peeking from your bushes, garden stakes for your tomatoes, gnomes?!, birdbaths etc!

The workshops will begin with a ~30 minute demonstration from Peyton Flynn of Cloud 9 Clay, and the remaining 3.5 hours will be free work time. Throughout your free time, Peyton & Cloud 9 Clay staff will be offering hands on guidance and support to help your garden dreams come to life.

We encourage you to brainstorm ideas before the workshop — feel free to bring inspiration and references with you! You can also come with an open mind and see where the clay takes you.

All materials, tools, and firings are included in this workshop, but you are welcome to bring any additional tools with you ~ get creative~ you might have things laying around the house that can be used for texture or shape references!

We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes and clothing that you don’t mind getting a little messy! Aprons are great if you have one to bring.

We will be spending the afternoon at Close at Hand Innovations located @ 2418 Martha Street, just 2 short blocks away from Cloud 9 Clay. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your class time to settle in & ensure that we have a punctual start.

Your piece will be ready to pick up approximately 2 weeks after workshop date.

All levels are welcome, no experience is required.
